I found out yesterday that Woody, my dog, has cancer. We’ve had him for almost 12 years, and he’s been a great pal. I don’t understand people who dislike dogs. They are one of God’s many gifts to man, and we can learn so much from them.
For instance, if you spank a dog for doing something wrong, three minutes later it will walk up and lick you. The dog didn’t forget that you hit it. Rather, it licks you because it loves you and forgives you. It loves unconditionally, and it lives a happier life because of it. It isn’t burdened with grudges. It won’t go to sleep angry if it doesn’t get a walk. No, it will go to sleep happy that it has an owner to love and to be loved by.
Sick patients light up when a dog visits. A dog’s benefit to the blind is immeasurable. They keep burglars away. They keep loneliness at bay. They bring so much joy to man, and all they ask in return is food, water, and maybe a kind word every now and then.
If only we were more like dogs.

Woody is doing pretty well now. Our sweet puppy is resting comfortably in his spot by the door, awaiting breakfast and his morning stroll. Dogs are not only wonderful in themselves; when there is good to be found in someone, a dog finds it and extracts it for the world to see. Truly a blessing. Not quite as good as children, but way up there! Dad
That makes me want to get a dog. I would name him Woodrow after...you know who.

Goosebumps up in Chicago... you definitely got it right. They are gifts; while some people eat their gifts in countries I shall not mention, they are amazing. I miss my dogs.
